OK OK, so it's a lousy pun, and obviously it has more than just a little
to do with the whole Northern Star idea, but after throwing a whole bunch
of ideas around in my head, then throwing most of them straight into the
bin, I was left with just a couple of things I felt like trying out. You
don't want to see how the first attempt turned out... No, really, you
don't. Let's just say I'd have sooner closed down the site than allow it
to end up looking like that! Every webmaster has at least one really
really awful design concept inside them, and this was one of mine.
So, one idea down, one to go. And what you see on the front page of the
site right now (assuming you're reading this around the time I'm writing
it, and not 5 years in the future when the site has been redesigned yet
again ;-) is what's left in my bag of ideas. As far as site design goes,
it isn't going to set the web-world alight, but at least it's the beginning
of something new for this site. It's also going to make things a lot
simpler for me than the old design, which was one of the main design goals,
so from that point at least I'm happy with the way it's turned out. Of
course, there's a ton of work left to do before the new site can be
described as finished, so please bear with me while I find the time to do
it all. If you've got any comments on the new look so far, I'd love to
hear them...
