Wannabe - MTV VMA 1997 Best Dance Video That first Melanie C backflip (211 KB) Although Melanie had caught my eye the first moment she appeared onscreen in the Wannabe video, this particular clip was the single reason I decided the video was worth watching more than once - the BAM! moment, as I describe it elsewhere. So, this one short clip is responsible for my interest in the Girls, and hence this site... it has a lot to answer for :-)

Wannabe was a fun little video, but nothing particularly special. Say You'll Be There however, was something else. Far better produced, stylish and eye catching, just what a good music video should be. And Melanie looked lovely in it, thanks in no small way to that outstanding (or should that be upstanding?) hairstyle...
Who Do You Think You Are - MTV version Smiles, more smiles, lots of tossing that lovely hair around, and something else.... ah yes, THAT DRESS!!! (401 KB)
This video is more like Wannabe than any others, it's got that same almost amateurish feel to it. But this is one time when I don't care about style or design, because of the small matter of that dress... Why Melanie doesn't wear stuff like that more often is a mystery, because she looks gorgeous when she does.

Sigh... Melanie might have looked good in "That Dress" from WDYTYA, but she looks even better in Too Much. And it's not a bad video generally speaking, so it gets my vote as Best Spice Video ever.
