Bryan Adams has topped the charts in 30 different countries and once spent 16
weeks at number one. But stuff that - what's the dilly with him and Mel C?
So when did you last see Mel C?
She invited me over for dinner the other night. We went over to her place.
What did she cook?
Er, I think there was a proper person cooking. It was all vegetarian stuff, I
won't eat anything with fish, meat or eggs.
So do you see each other quite a lot?
We have become quite good friends. She's down-to-earth and a pop enthusiast.
She's gonna be a star! I have written a song for her solo album.
How did you get together with Mel, anyway?
I met her in a hotel when I was doing my last video, and asked her to sing on
my album. She hadn't even heard When You're Gone and she said she'd do it.
When I told people about it, a few eyebrows were raised, but I thought it was
an interesting idea. I always thought it would make a great single.
And now you're about to have another whopping hit with Cloud Number Nine.
It's all because of Mel. The attention I've got wouldn't have been as strong
if it wasn't got Mel.
So hass she saved your career?
(Slightly miffed) I wouldn't be that dramatic. I've always had a strong
fan base.
When is she going to take you along to see Liverpool play?
You'll have to ask her that.
Has she asked you yet?
No, not yet. (Slightly miffed, again) You'll have to ask her why not. I
wish she had. My money would be on Chelsea (Bryan has lived in London's
swanky Chelsea for the past 11 years) to beat Liverpool.
Would you like to go to the footy with her?
I'd love to. I love Mel. (Pauses, deep in thought) I'm totally in love
with Mel. I think she knows I love her.
Do you have any pictures of you and Mel?
Yeah, I've got loads of pictures of us together. Do I send photos to my
mum? Er, no.
Why do you insist on dancing so suggestively with her when you perform
together?
I love rubbing bottoms with Mel. It's to be expected that people seeing
us together then go on to think that we realy are seeing each other.
Don't you think you should stop mucking around and as Mel if she fancies
you?
You'd have to ask her. (Bry gets all tongue-tied).
Would you like us to ask her out for you?
(Excitedly) Would you mind? Could you? Ask her straight out for me!
In fact, why not get married and be done with it?
Then there would be too many Adamses in the Spice Girls. (We point out
that Victoria's getting married.) Then it's time to put the Adams back
in to the Spice Girls! I don't think she'd go for it. (Pauses, then
raises an eyebrow.) Would she?
