Melanie Chisholm is a talented singer who has captured the love and
admiration she has deserved from thousands of people across the world. I 
didn't even know who the Spice Girls were until January of '97.  At that
point I still hadn't heard their songs or listened to what they had to say.
It wasn't until around April or May of '97 when I watched the Spice Girls
perform for the first time on The Rosie O'Donnell Show.  It was a
remarkable performance but I couldn't help but notice the wacky, skinny
one in the right corner of the stage.  That was when I first realized that
Melanie Chisholm was someone that I will always look up to.

After seeing a couple more perfomances on TV, I decided to go and buy the
CD (sometime in June).  I enjoyed the CD a lot.  The thing was, almost a
year before this time I was suffering a major case of depression.  I hated
my life, I couldn't stand the world anymore, and I felt like no one
understood me.  This went on for quite awhile.  Then one day, I really
wanted to commit suicide.  No one liked me.  I couldn't take it anymore.
I had to do something.  I turned on the CD player and listened to "Say
You'll Be There."  This may not seem true but it is.  For the first time
in my life, I felt like an actual person understood me.  That person was
Melanie Chisholm.  I believed in the Spice Girls ever since then and as
time went on, I understood what "Girl Power" really was.  It was believing
in yourself, loving yourself for who you are, and not giving into anyones
demands except your own.

Melanie Chisholm, if you are reading this now I want you to know that you
saved me.  Not only physically but mentally as well.  If something bad
happens and the Spice Girls break up, don't forget that the girl power you
created will never die.  And when everyone's gone and you've lost hope....
I'll still be in the stands rooting for you because you would have done
the same for me.
