This may be a bit offensive to all you Melanie fans out there, but this is
how I feel. Melanie, I used to love her, I thought she was the second
greatest Spice, always after Geri. I thought she was so sweet and so nice
and I liked the long black hair and sporty look. Oh how things can change.
When Melanie debuted her new "Barbie Doll" blonde hair and pink sweater
look, I was like "She looks great" but I knew deep down that I loved the
athletic Sporty Spice more. Then I saw her on MTV News in the United States,
and remember here folks, I am a HUGE Geri fan, HUGE, and when they compared
her look to Geri's old look Melanie very rudely snapped back with, "Geri
didn't invent this look ya know, and besides Geri never looked this good"
and that did it for me, this was the girl I thought was sweet and nice, I
had overlooked her other semi-rude comments towards Geri like "You miss the
person, but not the nagging" and the "It feels like Geri was never here",
but this I could not overlook.
I have lost all respect for Melanie, and gained more for Geri, for keeping
her head on and not even once bashing the other girls, unless you call her
song "You're In A Bubble" bashing, but still, she doesn't name names. You
want a real fans opinion on the new Melanie, okay then, I can sum that up
in two words: She Sucks.

Having not seen the news clip mentioned here, I don't know whether Melanie did
actually make that comment, or, if she did, whether it was a genuinely snappy
response or a jokey response that some people might misinterpret. It's
happened before, there's no reason why it couldn't happen again...
As for the other comments she's made about Geri, you have to take them in
context - the "it feels like Geri was never here" one in particular has a
completely different ring to it when taken alone like this rather than as
part of the complete reply.
Of course, I'm not saying Melanie would never turn nasty like this, because
although she seems like a nice person, none of us really know her at
all. So who knows, maybe she has changed more than just her physical
appearance recently...
If anyone else saw this news clip, please mail me with your comments on what
was said and the manner in which it was said.
