Melanie Chisholm -- My thoughts
Before I get started I would like to say well done to and congrats to
Chris on a fantastic site and I must admit that I find myself going to
this site more than any other site about Melanie.
My name Is Brian Mc Gowan and I'm just your average every-day 16 year old
teenager with a passion for the phenomenon that is known as Melanie Jayne
Chisholm. I love her and this site so much I just had to write this pretty
crappy article (so I think anyway). I had lived a pretty dull life
consisting of listening to Marilyn Manson and White Zombie and sleeping,
until of course the Spice Girls smashed onto our screens with their
chart-topping hip-hopping single which was....... guess what..... Yes you
got it, "Wannabe".
I must admit that the first time I heard of the girls my first impression
was "oh no, not another group of boyzone wannabie's with their
one-hit-wonder". And I'm pleased to say how wrong I was. The latest craze
had smacked us square in the gob when we least expected it. The best group
since sliced bread (the Spice Girls) were most certainly around to stay
like it or not (like it......hell, love it) as the huge success of their
second album (which is fantastic) has proven.
So, who were these five young fun loving girls who had enough guts to be
loud (Mel B and Geri), explosive with flying kicks and backflips (Melanie
C) and ....er..... What would YOU class Victoria and emma as back then? (a
class of their own if you ask me)? The answer is simple....They are
undoubtedly the best group in the world.
From the start I noticed Melanie C (duh who else). She was the one up on
stage wearing what she wanted, doing what she wanted dancing and prancing
in the corner being original, and I must say that in this day and age it's
hard to break the stereotypical mould that the media expects from pop
groups (high heels, designer dresses blonde hair and big chests). I
think that she shatters that mould in fine style. Think about it, how many
people do you know that do flying kicks or backflips just for fun?
Now, try and tell your friends at this early stage of their careers about
how you feel about Melanie, considering how little they knew and thought
about her (I know with my friends they didn't know anything) because she
was seen as the "ugly" one who was always screeching in the middle of the
the chorus and jumping around like a crazed lunatic as if god was chasing
her for revenge because she didn't repent for her sins. They were all too
busy saying "cor, get a load of that blonde one there, such a babe man", or
"look at that loudmouth red-head she's not bad". Nobody realised or cared
that she was actually beautiful with, as Chris here has nicely pointed out,
that just loveable hair regardless of whether it was tied up or let down
(I loved and still love it either way). In my eyes as I'm sure as in many
other peoples eyes, (correct me if i'm wrong) she was the most beautiful
girl out of the five who could sing and dance properly. Don't get me
wrong, I'm not slagging off the rest of the girls, they all can sing and
dance, just not as good as Melanie (in my opinion anyway).
Change is everywhere in and around the girls. For instance Melanie B isn't
as loud as she was, Victoria is starting to smile (at long last), whatever
"zest" or "pizazz" Emma had is now gone (she's just dull and boring) and
Geri is gone. But then again, I'm not writing this article about them am
I. No, this is about Melanie C in all her beauty and glory. I think that
she has changed a tremendous amount, all for the better I think (except
for one or two things). Mabye you think differently. She wears her hair
down a lot more when she is off stage which in my opinion is really really
sexy (influence from Chris there with the hair thing). If anybody was
watching Miami Spice on Channel Four a few weeks ago you would have seen
her looking as beautiful as ever. The new tattoo that says angel looks
really sexy (I love her tattoo's). The celtic armband is not a new edition
but I like it all the same. The stud in her nose is quite appealing I
must say. The only thing that I don't really like is the gold tooth but
that's just one little minor error on the giant scale of beauty that is
Melanie.
But what change of style did she have, I hear you non Melanie fans ask?
Well I will put you out of your misery, and just to recap for all you
Melanie fans (please do correct me if I'm wrong). Her old style was just
consisting of runners and trackies and jumping around the stage like a
lemming (not that I'm complaining mind I quite liked it). Now she has
changed her look to a young lady with very stylish clothes thad you would
see everyday people wearing. Not six-inch platforms and designer dresses
that you can only wear one day a week, like the stuff you see Emma or
Victoria wearing. Her clothes are affordable and sexy and I think that
this is a very good example for a role model of her status to set.
This change has certainly attracted more attention, fanwise and
mediawise. Interest in her from the media has risen since this change and
when Geri left. the media has taken more notice in her (I wish I could
give examples but I can't remember any and I haven't really been out much
because I broke my leg at the start of last month, but that's another
story). Men in general have taken a bigger interest in Melanie since she
has started to use more makeup (not much but......er.....mabye just a
little). Now she seems to have taken that "zest" or "pizazz" that Emma
once had and she is fast becoming the most popular Spice Girl (which I
think is excellent and about time).
I have to agree with Alison Hill when she said that our down to earth
Melanie is hovering a little bit off the ground, and I think that it is
this hovering that gives her the extra attention in both the media and in
peoples hearts. But then again, It's not all bad is it? I mean look at the
changes she has made with herself and her appearance (not that there was
anything wrong with it before). She certainly looks much better anyway.
Alison was also right when she mentioned her flawless beauty, brilliant
voice and that "hovering above the ground personality" (I couldent have put
it better myself). And just to answer her question, I personally don't
think that she will step into the same category as the other 99.9% of
celebrities (I hope not as well).
What about the film huh? Was it cool or was it cool? Who did not think
that that film was absolutely fantastic? The bit in the cafe where they
sang wannabe has to have been one of the best parts of the film (from my
point of view anyway). Did anybody notice any mistakes or flaws in the
film? Notice that when Victoria and Melanie came in out of the Thames they
were dry. Notice that? The funniest bit had to have been when the Spicebus
jumped over the London bridge, it was absolutely hilarious. Or the part
where they pictured themselves old, grey and overweight with a bucket full
of children, I was pissing mysef laughing at it. Or the best bit was at
dance camp with Michael Barrymore as their instructor.
I would also like to comment on what people are saying about Melanie and
calling her "Holland". I can't understand why anybody would want to slag
off anybody as good-natured, with an explosive personality not to mention
as beautiful and talented as Melanie. If you people out there are real
fans of Melanie then it shouldn't bother you what size her chest is.
Because I know it doesn't bother me one tiny little bit. What about all of
you? Does it bother you? Think about that for a while.
If anybody out there knows Melanie please say hello to her from me because
this is about as close as I am going to get to meeting her (and believe me
that would make my life).
