In America, the consensus on the Spice Girls seems to be either you love
them or you hate them. Fame and popularity are difficult to keep up in the
U.S., and until Geri quit and the U.S. tour began, the Spice Girls seemed
to have used up their 15 mintues of fame. Personally, I don't care what
others think about the Spice Girls. As for me, I am only a moderate Spice
Girls fan. I have the movie, but I don't have the albums, and I would not
consider myself to be obsessed. However, I am a HUGE Melanie Chisholm fan.
Yes, I would never have known her if it weren't for the Spice Girls, but I
know that if I met her on the street I would like her immediately.

The reason I am drawn to Melanie is because we seem to have a lot in
common. I don't believe at all in the idea of opposites attract. Truly
good friends have a lot in common. As for me and Mel C., I see a lot of
myself in her. For example, there is a scene in SpiceWorld where they all
go back to the old loft where they used to live. Melanie is the first to
show up and she is alone. I know it was just a scene in a movie, but to
me it was quite symbolic. Unlike the other girls, Melanie seems to be ready
to stand on her own and is very independent. She also seems to be able to
put things in perspective. I get the impression from her that if the Spice
Girls broke up tommorrow she would be just fine.

I also admire Melanie's work ethic. A few of my fellow Melanie C fans
wrote about how she wasn't as glamorous or flashy as the other girls.
Clearly, she was the underdog at those auditions long ago. But Melanie
had a dream and she did not let anyone tell her she wasn't good enough. I
also noticed that she lost some weight and got into shape after her
audition. I respect that a lot. Don't get me wrong, if Melanie was 800
pounds I would still love her, but being in the medical field, I have a
lot of respect for those who take care of their health.

The thing about Melanie is, she's exactly what I'm looking for in a mate.
She's attractive and beautiful, yet she's very modest. She also is looking
for someone real. Not just someone who wants her because she's famous or a
Spice Girl. She also has that natural beauty. Some people call it plain,
but I couldn't disagree more. The most beautiful women in the world are
those who can look great without putting on any make-up at all. But with
Melanie, her beauty comes from the inside. Unfortunately for me, I don't
think I'll ever get the chance to talk with Melanie. Even if I did, my
horrible shyness would probably turn me into a brain dead moron in front of
her. Still, it's nice to share my feelings with others who appreciate just
how wonderful she is. And I am talking about Melanie Chisholm, the young
woman from England, not just some media created persona called Sporty Spice.

Melanie, if you ever read this, please know that there are people out
there who respect you and are proud of what you've accomplished. As for
your search for love, maybe you should give an American guy a try! I
think you would enjoy talking with me! And even if we just end up
friends, I could set you up with Bruce Willis, because he's single now :)
