Concern For Mel C's Tattoo Obsession

Okay.  This "tattooing" has got to stop.  I loved the first two tattoos;
they even seemed to compliment the dress she wore to the Brits in '97.
The first time I ever saw the Spice Girls she already had those tattoos, so
it was kindof like they were a part of her. I never even considered that
she might want to get more.
The first time I saw the cross tattoo was on Jay Leno. Obviously, there
wasn't anything I could do about it, so I tried to convince myself that it
really did look good. But now I can't do that. This new tattoo is just
too big, and the cross and angel together clash and take up too much space.

Unfortunately, this new tattoo is on a part of her body that is rarely
covered, and her six-pack is one of her most distinguishing characteristics.
If she wanted to draw more attention to it, she certainly will succeed, but
I think it might turn some off.

Mel is my favorite Spice Girl. I was initially attracted to her because of
her simple elegance. The moment I saw her I knew that she possessed
something beyond unique beauty and a petite physique. I was intrigued; I
knew that what I saw was not what I got. As much as I like Emma, I felt that
as soon as I saw her I knew everything about her. With Mel I became curious
as to what was actually behind her, and I knew it was something real and
sincere. These tattoos are fake. They clash with the sincere side of her
that makes her so appealing.

I don't mean to be harsh, but I just don't want her to lose what makes her
so special. I really don't think that she should get anything else done.
In forty years when her skin is beginning to wrinkle, she is going to regret
having had so many done. I remember the time when Mel was not allowed in a
Japanese gym because of her tattoos. I don't think that it was fair of them
to judge her in this way (or anyone for that matter), but whenever Mel gets
a new tattoo, she is going to have to accept that people are going to see her
in a different way, and she will be treated differently.

I just want everyone in the world to know the Melanie I know in my heart -
the down-to-earth, sweet, shy girl who just wants to sing. I'm afraid that
these tattoos are going to give the wrong impression. I want Melanie to do
what is right for her, but I think that she should take into consideration
these three words: Less Is More.
