The heat is on...for real. But as it is on, it is almost immediately over.
The last few weeks (or months) have been quite hectic for the Spice Girls.
With the emergence of All Saints and other bands like Solid Harmonie, they
have been under fire.  Once again, the bets are on. Who would be the first
Girl to quit and go solo?  Melanie made a good number one.

They seemingly have weathered the storm that the other bands have caused.
Ironically, they all worked together, but it was Mel that kept them all
together, previous doubts aside.  All Saints may be breaking up really quick
(thank you Lord) and other bands cannot even come close (yet) to the Spice
Girls status (the only one being Solid Harmonie).  What did strike me as
surprising, was that of all the bands, only All Saints picked on the Girls
and left no opportunity unused to try and break down our favorite women.
I think the key word here should be respect. Without the Spice Girls, these
other bands wouldn't even have been here.  They paved the road that loads of
other bands and copycats now try to walk.

But anyway, back to the split up thing.  Mel C was heard saying that "the
Spice Girls days were numbered".  Let's face it. They were numbered from the
start.  Every thing they do, is a gamble.  Everybody was betting on Mel C
when the first rumours arose about the break up of the Girls.  The other
four wouldn't be able to get along with Geri anymore and at least Emma was
planning to go solo.

Think about it : Melanie going solo.  Not a bad prospect, is it?  She has a
great voice, whether it's a ballad or a typical Spice Girls song.  Won't be
happening.  Because from my view, Melanie is a (if not THE) driving force
behind the Girls.  It's been said before and I will say it again.  Melanie
motivates the Girls and she keeps 'em going.  They are currently recording a
new album.  I just hope they keep going on.  Maybe there will be room for
solo projects in the future, but I like Melanie as a Spice Girl anyway.
Let's hope they keep going, so we can all enjoy the performance of Melanie
and the other girls.
