I just got back from seeing Melanie in concert at The Guvernment night
club in Toronto, Canada. Everyone's favorite Scouse girl put on a
fabulous performance to a packed and enthusiastic crowd. Miss Chisholm,
clad in blue jeans and a red cut-off shirt sporting a Canada logo (No dog
collar this time round), ripped through several tracks from her
forthcoming Northern Star disk. Sporty even tossed in a pumped-up,
guitar-riffed cover of the Spice's Wannabe.
Melanie continuously demonstrated her great vocal range and left no doubt
in the minds of anyone in attendance that this girl can indeed ROCK! She
displayed the showmanship of a seasoned pro, except for the spitting of
water on some of the fans up front. I guess she's just trying to fit into
her new Indie-Punk-Rocker persona. Anyhow, the one clear-cut notion I
evidenced tonight was that Melanie doesn't really need the other Spice
Girls. She can definitely hold her own and her solo career should be on
the verge of taking off to high heights.
The entire concert was webcast live at Canada's Virtually Canadian
website. This site maintains archives of most of the live shows so I've
included their address
(www.virtuallycanadian.com/cgi-bin/frameit-pt.cgi?/Shows/PrimeTicket/Melan
ie/). Canada's MuchMusic music television station had a live one hour
chat with Melanie on the 3rd, the first of three days in Toronto for her.
Info on her time there can be weaned from their site (www.muchmusic.com).
Anyhow, that's all for now.
Blumester.
